Zach Brown to be Red Shirted

Just one year ago Zach Brown was getting prepared for the Badgers 2009 Opener and was penciled in as the Badgers starting Tailback, now fast forward and all of my sources are telling me he’s meeting with the coaching staff to discuss using his Red Shirt this season.  How times have changed in just one year, John Clay took the starting role half way through last year and ran his way to Offensive Player of the year honors in the Big Ten, and not long after Clay took his starting job away from him, Monte Ball took the 2nd string job from him as well and went on to be the Badgers 2nd leading rusher a year ago.  Now I’ve said earlier this summer that Monte Ball would all but eliminate all of Brown’s carries in 2010, and I was wondering what role if any Brown would have, however I didn’t see him losing the 3rd string job to Freshman James White, but White has been so impressive he’s actually co-2nd string with Ball.  I’m not sure what the future holds for Zach Brown as a Badger, but I don’t see him finding playing time this year or next year for that matter, the best thing for him right now might be to tranfer out, and hope to land a starting job a lower leven program.  The thing is he wasn’t and isn’t a bad player, however the Badgers are just loaded at Tailback and he seems to be the odd man out, so I’m sure there is another D-1 school that could use him.  What ever the future holds for Brown, here at Badger of Honor we wish him nothing but the best.
