Wisconsin Badgers vs San Jose St. in Game Blog

10:43 am – Wisconsin Badgers band rocking the Camp Randall Field.  Only 15 min or so from kick off stay tuned, will blog again to recap the Badgers opening drive.

10:56 am – Badgers heading onto the field, slow arriving crowd today, I’m sure there will be plenty of open seats for this one.  Lets also all remember what today is, 9/11 let’s all keep everyone who lost someone in that tragedy in our hearts especially today!

11:09 am – TOUCHDOWN BADGERS 7 – 0 on John Clay’s 1 yard TD run…. Nothing like a balanced first drive, 31 Rushing and 31 Passing yards.  10 play drive 77 yards.  Converted both 3rd downs, and San Jose State had a 15 yard late hit penalty

11:14 am – San Jose St. 3 and out, San Jose St. managed just 7 yards, with -1 yard rushing.  Badgers will take over after the punt at the 50 yard line, just a 26 yard punt.

11:21 am – James White had 3 carries for 16 yards, but fumbled at the goal line, and out of the end zone, SJSU ball at the 20 yard line 7 – 0 Badgers…. turnovers again like last week cost the Badgers points.

11:30 am – SJSU went 3 and out again, as did the Badgers for the first time today, Tolzien missed a couple of open targets on 2nd and 3rd down.  7 – 0 3:09 left in the 1st quarter.

11:37 am – END OF QUARTER 1 —  BADGERS LEAD 7 – 0  it has been a pretty lackluster type performance so far, maybe the INT by Black Sorenson will jump start the Offense.

11:42 am – TD BADGERS…  Scott Tolzien to Lance Kendricks, 4 plays 38 yards, 14 yard TD pass to cap off the 1:13 drive to take the lead 14 – 0.  The TD came on 3rd and two and Tolzien did a great play fake to Clay and Kendricks was wide open for the score!

12:01 pm – Big third down stop by the Badgers Defense.  3rd and 1 and the Badgers line stuffed SJSU on the run up the middle.  Injury timeout, it looks like they might go for it here, what do they have to lose?  Nope they are punting after all… PUNT BLOCKED by the BADGERS, Wisconsin takes over at the 13 yard line.

12:05 pm – 4th down and 1 on the 3 yard line, Badgers going for it, Clay in the back field… Tolzien fumbles the snap, can’t get the half yard needed SJSU takes over on downs.  Badger offense has been balanced so far with 87 yards rushing and 70 passing, but the results are lacking to this point.

12:16 pm – J.J. Watt with the BLOCKED FG, Badgers take over with 1:23 left in the half at their own 26 yard yard line.

12:25 pm – Phillip Welch drills a 45 yard field goal as time expires in the 1st half.  Badgers lead the Spartans 17 – 0.  Drive details 1:28 on 8 plays.  At halftime the Badgers stats are still balanced: 91 yards Rushing and 112 through the air.

12:44 pm – SJSU Spartans will start with the ball to begin the 2nd half

12:53 pm –  Scary sight, David Gilreath was fielding a punt and got hit very hard, and now he has been down for about 8 min. and they have brought the cart out and the ambulance and he’s being put on a stretcher…. let’s all hope for the best for Gilreath.  Very Scary situation.

1:04 pm – FIELD GOAL BADGERS : Phillip Welch a 37 yard field goal dead center.  Drive was all Clay, and mostly all on two plays of 9 yard runs and a 40 yard run.  Badgers 20 – 0    ** UPDATE ON DAVID GILREATH, OUT WITH A CONCUSSION **

1:19 pm –  Badgers Antonio Fenelus picked off a pass for the Badgers, and Scott Tolzien gave it right back three plays later with an INT of his own.  The offense has not looked sharp by any means, and way too many players are getting hurt or knicked up too.  Still 20 – 0, but they need to get the offense of issues (TURNORVERS) fixed soon because you can’t play this way against any Big Ten Teams…. now SJSU just threw a 37 yard TD in which the Badgers missed about 6 or 7 open field tackles…. this has not been a pretty performance, but  Bucky is still winning 20 – 7 (remember Wisconsin was a 38 pt favorite)

1:25 pm –  END OF THE 3rd QUARTER SCORE: UW 20 – SJSU 7…. time to “JUMP AROUND” this is scary in this Press Box, the whole entire Press Box is shaking right now…. PLEASE STUDENTS stop JUMPING, I’m a bit scared right now!!

1:33 pm – TOUCHDOWN WISCONSIN: John Clay 1 yard carry 27 – 7 Wisconsin leads!!  John Clay is only 5 yards away from his 8th straight 100 yard game.  Stay tuned to see if he gets it… should be no problem unless Bielema puts Ball and White in for the rest of the way, but I’m sure Coach will get him 5 more yards.

1:40 pm – Play of the game to this point I think is the Play that Jay Valai (DB) just made on a deep pass attempt by SJSU, he had to cover 30 yards to break up the play where the WR was wide open, it was a very athletic play.  Score still 27 – 7

1:48 pm – touchdown Spartans 27 – 14: To say the least this has been a very poor effort for the Badgers in my opinion, yes it’s going to be a win, and yes it is what it is, but many worries that need fixing, the Offense has been well below standard today, still truning the ball over, the Defense should not allow this team to score 14 points and have 307 total yards, the Badgers have just 45 more yards then a team that allowed nearly 300 rushing yards alone last week, needless to say the crowd of 78,469 didn’t see the #11 Ranked Badgers play to there best ability.  There is still 5:44 left in the game SJSU just recovered an onside kick but was offsides so they will try again.  Badgers ball, John Clay over 100 yards again that makes it 8 straight games, 17 for 104 and 2 TD’s for Clay.

1:59 pm – Well Clay just realed off another long run, he’s starting to get things going, Ball and White didn’t have good days, but Mr. Reliable John Clay comes through again with yet another good game, under 3:00 to go, I’m calling this game in the bag, the Badgers are inside the 40 so they should get another FG or TD, but I’m calling it a day, check Monday for my Recap Article…. until then “On Wisconsin” 2 – 0
