The Badgers will draw Penn State tonight at 8-ish pm in the second round of the Big 10 tournament. This sounds a little silly but the Badgers really need to win this game. According to the latest S-Curveby Joe Lunardi the Badgers are the first four seed. Based on what we have been told in the past a team can go up or down a seed according to matchups and certain protection rules. If the Badgers lose this game to Penn State I would bet they get moved down to the five line with a chance to move down to the 6 seed. Before the Ohio State game there was serious, very serious, consideration given to the Badgers for a two seed. One loss to the top team in the country, on their home court, on senior day and the Badgers could drop four seeds. Sometimes it really sucks to be a Badger fan when selection Sunday comes.
Rodney Dangerfield has nothing on the Badgers when it comes to “Getting No Respect.” The Badgers have no bad losses. At UNLV, at Penn State, at Purdue, at Illinois, neutral court versus Notre Dame(a potential one seed), and at overall number one seed Ohio State. Along with no bad losses the Badgers have a bunch of quality wins, namely Illinois, Purdue, Ohio State and Marquette.
The Badgers are currently favored by seven points tonight over Penn State. If the team at all cares about keeping its seed from falling any further than a four I strongly suggest they come to play with all out effort. With a couple of wins a three seed may be back within reach but one loss and I could see the Badgers getting a six.
