It’s unlikely this year’s Badgers-Cornhuskers match-up will achieve the same hype level as last year’s. That was after all a special circumstance. It was Nebraska’s first conference game as a Big 10 school AND it was the Badgers’ first big test of what many thought could be a national title season. Everything was set up for that game to be huge, and it was huge, especially from the Badgers’ point-of-view since they pretty much kicked Nebraska’s butts.
This year’s Nebraska game, which will happen in Memorial Stadium instead of Camp Randall, likely won’t be as large at least in terms of pre-game build-up. But it will still be a prime time game, it’s been announced. September 29, Badgers at Nebraska, 7 PM CT, television outlet yet to be determined (it will be ABC, ESPN or ESPN2). Roll out your “revenge game” cliches, talking heads.
The Nebraska duel will actually be the second of two prime time games for Badger football in September. The other will be a BTN game September 15th at Camp Randall against Utah State. If you’re wondering about the Badgers’ success level in night games? It’s pretty good. They’re 29-5 under the lights since 1995. Of course prime time pressure isn’t always kind to the Badgers as we unfortunately learned last year. Hopefully 2012 will be free of such crushing disappointments.
