Jarrod Uthoff Will Transfer to Iowa

by Basketball

Mar 14, 2012; Albuquerque, NM, USA; Wisconsin Badgers forward Jarrod Uthoff (30) during practice for the second round of the 2012 NCAA men

Bo Ryan did everything he could to keep Jarrod Uthoff from transferring within the Big Ten. In the end Uthoff wouldn’t be denied. He will transfer to Iowa even though it means sitting out a year and paying his own way. ”I just didn’t want money to be a factor in where I wanted to play,” said Uthoff, who is originally from Cedar Rapids. Now he gets to go home. And he will get a chance to stick it to Bo Ryan, provided he ever sees the floor again (and provided Bo is still coaching in two years).

More power to Uthoff if this is what he really wants. We’ll see what kind of player he is in two years when he gets to suit up again. Hopefully, for his sake, that more up-tempo Iowa offense will suit his talents as well as he hopes. Obviously he was miserable at Wisconsin, playing within Bo’s team concept. It’s better for everyone that he moved on. This chapter can finally be closed.
