Mike Bruesewitz is a tough bugger but even he can’t take on a basket standard and expect to come out on top. That’s right, Bruesewitz took on an inanimate object and lost. The Badger forward reportedly went awkwardly into the back part of a basket standard during Tuesday’s practice and suffered a nasty gash to his right lower leg. The laceration was so severe it required surgery. That surgery was reportedly successful and Bruesewitz is out of the hospital. But he will miss the next 4-6 weeks as he recovers.

Knowing Bruesewitz, that recovery time will end up falling toward the short end of the estimate. My guess is he will be back in time for the big game at Florida on November 14th. So he’ll probably miss the two cupcake home games before that against UW-Oshkosh and Southeastern Louisiana. Yes, we’re talking Badger basketball. It’s October. You may have noticed the slight change in the weather. I’m sure your tomato plants did. That first game against UW-Oshkosh is only 28 days away. Time to shift into basketball mode. Cause the football team just isn’t fun.
