The Wisconsin Badgers come into the day ranked No. 22 in the BCS and No. 17 in the AP. The Badgers keep winning but their BCS bowl chances seem to be growing thinner by the week.
The Badgers’ only chance at going to a BCS game would be if Ohio State wins out and either Alabama or Florida State loses a game. That could possibly send the Buckeyes to the BCS Championship Game. And then that would open up either the Rose Bowl or the Orange bowl for the Badgers to represent the Big Ten in.
But that is only if No. 16 Michigan State 8-1 (5-0) loses a game this year because they have the inside track to receive an at-large bid to a BCS game from the Big Ten.
Michigan State’s best chance to lose a regular season game this year would be to the Nebraska Cornhuskers 7-2 (4-1) in Lincoln this afternoon. If Michigan State loses today and Ohio State continues to win out and one of the top two teams in the country loses then the Badgers may be able to snag an at-large bid.
That is a lot of “ifs” but hey it’s alright to dream Wisconsin faithful, why not Bucky Badger is dreaming — why not you?
And of course all of this is assuming the Badgers defeat the Indiana Hoosiers today and then their next two contests.
So put your corn-hats on Badgers fans, this is an important step in the Badgers’ seemingly uphill battle towards a BCS game. Will it happen? Who knows, a spot could open up and as gross as it feels the Buckeyes and the Cornhuskers are friends today.
Enjoy the game today!
