Wisconsin (8-0, 0-0) will come back to the mainland United States the same way they left it – undefeated.

A Frank Kaminsky dunk followed by back-to-back-to-back threes from Sam Dekker were enough to ease Wisconsin through the pain and keep the Badgers perfect on the season, as they finished off West Virginia, 70-63.

The Badgers struggled from the field late in the first half, and did not shoot the ball particularly well Wednesday night in Cancun in the championship game of the Cancun Challenge hosted by the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya.

Dekker led Wisconsin with 21 points on 7-14 shooting from the field. West Virginia guard, Eron Harris, led all scorers on the night with 27 points.

The Mountaineers outshot Wisconsin, going 53% from beyond the arc and 43% from the field overall.

After Wisconsin’s hot start, they finished the night shooting a marginal 40.7% from both the field and behind the three point line.

Where the difference came was at the foul line where the Badgers knocked in 15 of their 17 attempts compared to a 6-of-14 performance from their opponent.

A full game report with comments from coach Bo Ryan will follow later tonight.
