This year the Wisconsin Badgers have played one of their toughest non-conference schedules in recent memory and have succeeded in these early season tests thus far. Next season is already shaping up for another year of tough, non-conference opponents as the Badgers will take part in the 2014 Battle 4 Atlantis.
The tournament is one of the most stacked it’s ever been, with the Badgers joining North Carolina, UCLA, Oklahoma, Florida, Georgetown, Butler and UAB. This lineup reads more like one half of a Sweet 16 bracket and not just another holiday tournament.
These eight teams have combined for 195 NCAA tournament appearances, 53 Final Four’s and 20 National Championships.
It’s great to see the Badgers taking part in a great holiday tournament like the Battle 4 Atlantis and one of the better lineups in an early season tournament next season. It will once again provide a great opportunity to see what the Badgers are made of in the early stages of the year.
This season’s tournament included Kansas, Wake Forest, Villanova, Tennessee, USC, Iowa, Xavier and UTEP with Villanova coming away with the championship.
The Battle 4 Atlantis originated in 2011 and is becoming one of the hottest up-start holiday tournaments. Held at the Atlantis resort, it’s not a bad a getaway for the team and a great Thanksgiving vacation destination for their fans as well.
