The Seattle Seahawks have been one of the best teams not only in the NFC, but the entire NFL throughout the season. On Sunday they have a chance to clinch home-field advantage throughout the playoffs with a win over St. Louis or a loss by San Francisco. A big reason why the Seahawks are in this position is because of the play of second year and former Wisconsin Badgers quarterback Russell Wilson.
I think it’s safe to say that Wilson has exceeded most people’s expectations. I’ll admit it, I did not think that he would be have such success so early into his career. But even with some inconsistency at times this season, he has helped put the Seahawks in a position to clinch the overall number one seed in the NFC playoffs.
Wilson has thrown for 3,185 yards and 25 touchdowns, good enough for eighth in the league. Also Wilson’s passer rating of 101.1 is seventh best in the NFL. The third round pick has even beaten defenses with his legs, rushing for 540 yards and one score. Even though he’s not putting up Peyton Manning numbers (honestly he’s in another level by himself), he’s kept the Seahawks at or near the top of the NFC all year long.
Russell Wilson and the Seahawks look to bounce back from last weeks loss to the Arizona Cardinals when they host the St. Louis Rams at CenturyLink Field on Sunday. A win means the road to the Super Bowl will have to go through the 12th Man.
