The Wisconsin Badgers will be well represented come Super Bowl XLVIII, as four former players will be heading to Met Life Stadium.
Headlining the group will be Denver Broncos running back Montee Ball and former teammate Russell Wilson, quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks. Both Wilson and Ball put up exceptional numbers while at Wisconsin. Ball racked up 1,830 yards on the ground and scored 22 touchdowns in 2012, while in 2011 Wilson threw for 3,175 yards and 33 touchdowns.
This season Ball has shared the backfield on an exceptionally great offense with Knowshon Moreno. Ball has overcome some early season fumbling miscues and has tallied 559 yards rushing with four touchdowns. Wilson is the second-year starter for the Seahawks, leading his team to the playoffs in both years. In the regular season, Wilson threw for 3,357 yards and 26 touchdowns while compiling a 101.2 passer rating.
The other two players joining them, both from the Seahawks, will be safety Chris Maragos and linebacker O’Brien Schofield. The four players that will be representing the Badgers is tops among all Big Ten teams for most active roster players in the Super Bowl.
And lets not forget about Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, who had some glory years for Wisconsin from 1992-95, winning the 1994 Rose Bowl.
The Badgers are well represented in Super Bowl XLVIII and it will be interesting if the Broncos and Montee Ball will be able to take home the Vince Lombardi trophy or if Russell Wilson and the three other former Badger players for Seattle will hoist the prestigious trophy.
