Many NFL scouts are quickly realizing at Senior Bowl practices what everyone who follows the Wisconsin Badgers and Big Ten football already knew: Chris Borland is a really good football player.
Despite his short height (he stands at 5’11”) Borland has proven his critics wrong time and time again.
Borland played well during his time at the University of Wisconsin. This week he has made many NFL scouts take notice and has shown just how good of a player he is. Not only has his physical ability outshined most in Mobile, AL this week, but also his football smarts.
Brent Sobleski of USA Today Sports writes about Borland:
Borland has been the most consistent player on the field during the past three days of Senior Bowl practices. It’s easy to notice in Borland in the middle of the defense barking out calls. He is lining up everyone properly pre-snap and, usually, making plays post-snap.
High praise also came from ESPN analyst Todd McShay, who tweeted this out on Wednesday:
WISC LB Borland is an animal. Great instincts. Strong this wk as rusher and in cvg. Doesn’t have measurables but who cares. He’s a player!

The 2014 Senior Bowl is one last-gasp effort for players to prove on the field what they are capable of and improve their draft stock. For Chris Borland, his stock seems to be rising fairly quickly this week.
