The Big Ten Tournament is upon and once again under Bo Ryan, the Wisconsin Badgers have received a first round bye. Wisconsin comes into the tournament as the No. 2 seed and on Friday will play the winner of the quarterfinal game between the Minnesota Golden Gophers (7 seed) and the Penn State Nittany Lions (10).
Oddly enough those two teams will have played just four days prior when they face off on Thursday. Minnesota won that meeting at home 81-63 and also defeated Penn State on the road earlier this season, although that one was a bit closer. Gophers were able to comeback and win a thriller against the Nittany Lions 68-65, sending the State College faithful home deflated.
Wisconsin this season is a combined 2-1 against these teams. The Badgers split the season series with the Gophers as each team held their serve on their respective home floors. The Nittany Lions fell victim to Wisconsin at home in their one and only meeting of the year this season.
If the Badgers do happen to move on to the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament, they could possibly face a Michigan State team that have lost seven of their last 12 games. Wisconsin beat the Spartans in their lone meeting of the season 60-58 at the Kohl Center.
