Thinking about heading to North Texas to witness the Badgers play in the 2014 Final Four but unsure if you should make the trip?
This might convince you.
Former Badger, and all-time great, Michael Finley has offered to pay for any Wisconsin students’ drinks at the Final Four festivities all weekend. Finley, who scored 2,147 points while in Madison from 1991-1995, is looking to give reasons for Badgers fans to smile once more — but this time from the bar.
It’s been awhile since Finley wore the cardinal red and white on the hardwood but obviously his school spirit is still quite strong.
He says if you have your UW student ID then you can drink for free. Responsibly, of course. Oh, and the ID doesn’t even have to be current. That’s right, Wisconsin alumni far removed from their days in Madison, you can drink for free, too.

Pretty awesome right? Not only can you meet an all-time great Badger but you can share a (FREE) beer with him? Awesome.
And he is serious, too. In case you were doubting this, he’s tweeting out where he’ll be every night. Here’s an example:

Very classy move by Finley. Follow his twitter to see his posts if you do want to drink some free beer during the Final Four weekend.
Hopefully he’ll be buying drinks for Badgers fans all the way until the National Championship game.
Bucky plays the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday night at 7:49 PM CST on TBS and according to Vegas, the ‘Cats are the favorite. The winner of this colossal matchup will secure their spot in the National Championship Game.
Wisconsin is in its first Final Four since 2000 and is looking for its first National Championship since 1941. Finley is certainly excited for the action and he clearly wants to get as many Wisconsin fans to the game(s) as possible.
Who knew that offering Wisconsinites free beer would get them to go somewhere?
Oh wait, everyone knew that.
Stereotypes aside, Wisconsin fans were already going to have a great time in North Texas but Finley has made the weekend even more exciting. It’s nice to see alumni, especially former stars, involved and excited in the current team’s success.
I think I speak for all Badgers fans when I say…thanks again, Finley.
