The 2014 Final Four is less than a day away.
The Wisconsin Badgers are set to play their first game in April since the improbable Final Four run back in 2000. Subsequently, the Badgers are playing their biggest game of the Bo Ryan Era.
Think about the magnitude of that statement. Ryan’s run with the Badgers has been illustrious, to say the least, but this season is his crown jewel.
Their foe in this massive game? The Kentucky Wildcats, who are playing their best ball of the season. Tip off is Saturday night, at 7:49 PM CST. Eyes nationwide will be watching the clash on TBS.
The winner heads to the National Championship Game to face the winner of Connecticut and Florida.
Defeating the ‘Cats will be no easy task though. Kentucky is extremely talented, athletic and has incredible length. One may think that Wisconsin’s players would be uptight and nervous about the impending matchup. Especially since they were all young children the last time the Badgers found themselves in the Final Four.
But this hilarious video suggests otherwise.
Take a look as sensational freshman Nigel Hayes continues his Ron Burgundy inspired “Hayes For Days” series:
As you can see, the Badgers seem extremely loose. That is refreshing. They aren’t gripping, they aren’t being overly tense (except for maybe Bronson Koenig and his funny shooting troubles unfold).
It looks like the Badgers players are truly enjoying their time in North Texas, and why shouldn’t they? It would be a mistake if Ryan had his team on a short leash and anxious heading into the contest. Instead, the team is laid-back and quick to make a joke just like Ryan himself.
They say a team’s personality mimics the personality of its coach — the Badgers certainly do just that. Hopefully the Badgers will be just as laid back and loose tomorrow night when they face the Wildcats.
Of course there will be nerves and jitters but if Wisconsin plays like it has all tournament; those feelings should fade away quickly.
I can’t say the same about my nerves, though. But I certainly am excited — are you?
