Believe it or not, it’s that time of year again. Although up here in Wisconsin (and most of the country for that matter) we suffered through one of the most brutal winters in history, we persevered and find ourselves finally in shorts. And now we find ourselves getting our first real glimpse of the Wisconsin football team as the Badgers spring game kicks off Saturday afternoon.
After another New Year’s Day bowl loss last season, head coach Gary Andersen will be to get this team off on the right foot in the 2014 season. Not an easy task as the Badgers kickoff the regular season with a game against the LSU Tigers at Reliant Stadium in Houston, TX.
But Andersen isn’t looking ahead to that. Not when he’s still got question marks about the roster, especially at the quarterback position. Incumbent starter Joel Stave has been shut down the rest of the spring due to a shoulder injury and will miss the annual spring game. That means Tanner McEvoy, Bart Houston and D.J. Gillins can use the Badgers spring game as an opportunity to showcase their talents and make a case for starting quarterback.
With the spring game comes not only the annual Badger Sports Kids Fair where kids can meet the players, but the ever popular UW spring game student dance off.
