Two of the top teams in the country will face off in the annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Duke Blue Devils will travel to the Kohl Center to take on the Wisconsin Badgers on December 3rd.
This is by far the premier game of the challenge and could very well be a preview of the Final Four.
Wisconsin returns 99% of its team from last year, including big man Frank Kaminsky who decided to stay in Madison instead of entering the NBA Draft. The Badgers have a record of 7-8 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge after defeating the Virginia Cavaliers last year 48-38.
Duke may have lost Jabari Parker to the NBA Draft, but they have a couple incredible incoming freshman joining the program next season. Tyus Jones and Jahlil Okafor will be joining head coach Mike Krzyzewski’s Blue Devils and should provide a spark to a team who couldn’t past Mercer in last season’s NCAA Tournament. With a 13-2 mark, Duke has the best record in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
The Badgers and Blue Devils have face each other twice in the challenge, with both coming away with wins on their home floor. In 2007 then No. 7 Duke defeated No. 20 Wisconsin 82-58 at Cameron Indoor Stadium. But two years later in 2009 the Badgers avenged that loss by beating the Blue Devils 73-69 at the Kohl Center. Duke was ranked fifth then while the Badgers were at the time unranked.
Not only is this the biggest game in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, but it could very well be one of the top games of the college basketball season. Let’s hope this one turns out like it did in 2009.
