The very first poll of the college football season came out on Thursday. The preseason Amway Coaches Poll was released, with last year’s (and final) BCS national champion Florida State Seminoles sitting at the top of the poll with 56 of the possible 62 first-place votes. The Wisconsin Badgers landed at the 14th spot of the poll.
No surprise at the top spot as the Seminoles return a very good team from last season’s national championship group.
I’m also not surprised to see the Badgers right there at the middle of the pack. Right ahead of Bucky at 13 is LSU, Wisconsin’s opening day opponent and one of the most anticipated games of the entire season. LSU is one of seven teams from the SEC in the top 25, while Wisconsin is just one of four teams from the Big Ten.
Joining the Badgers from the Big Ten is Ohio State (6), Michigan State (8) and Nebraska (22). Ohio State received one first-place vote.
The top ten of the preseason Amway Coaches Poll breaks down like this:
1. Florida State (56)
3. Oklahoma (3)
4. Oregon (1)
6. Ohio State (1)
8. Michigan State
9. South Carolina (1)
*first place votes in parentheses

If this were the college football playoff where the top four teams make it in, you would have Florida State taking on Oregon in one semifinal and Alabama squaring off against Oklahoma in the other. As an avid college football fan, I would not be disappointed with those two matchups.
Let me know what you think, Badger fans. Is Wisconsin ranked too high? Too low? Just right?
