On Tuesday the 2014 Battle 4 Atlantis bracket was released and joining the Wisconsin Badgers at the three-day tournament over Thanksgiving weekend are the Florida Gators, North Carolina Tar Heels, UAB Blazers, Butler Bulldogs, Georgetown Hoyas, Oklahoma Sooners and UCLA Bruins. With such a loaded tournament, I thought to take a look at potential match ups for the Badgers in the tournament held in the Bahamas.
If the Badgers get past the Blazers (and I’m guessing they will), they would face either the Gators or Hoyas. And I would love nothing more than to see Wisconsin take on Florida once again this year. Last season the Badgers narrowly escaped with 59-53 victory at the Kohl Center, however Florida was missing some key players. Plus both teams made the Final Four a year ago and a rematch could provide a very good match up early in the season.
A victory there and they would face one of the four teams in the bottom half of the bracket that includes the Bruins, Sooners, Bulldogs and Tar Heels. Personally I would like to see the Badgers take on either UCLA or UNC if they were able to make it to the championship game. The Bruins finished 15th in the final USA Today Coaches Poll and the Tar Heels finished 21st. Oklahoma would also provide another great match up for Wisconsin as either one of those three teams would be an early season test for head coach Bo Ryan and his players.
The Battle 4 Atlantis is looking to be one of the best college basketball tournaments this year and will be a great test for Wisconsin. The Bahamas could really tell a lot about this team and its success.
