On Thursday evening, BTN.com had the official release of the 2014-15 Big Ten schedule. Two newcomers land on the docket, the Maryland Terrapins and Rutgers Scarlet Knights. The Wisconsin Badgers are favorites to win the conference and judging by their schedule, they should have a few marquee games on tap.
It’s interesting to note that we will not see either Maryland nor Rutgers at the Kohl Center this year as the Badgers travel to both team’s respective arenas. Also interesting to note that Wisconsin finishes on the road four of their last six games. And as we all know, winning on the road in the Big Ten is no easy task.
A game I will definitely have circled on the calendar will be the Badgers rematch with Nebraska on February 10th. I believe the Cornhuskers could surprise some people this year and hopefully the upset bug does not bite Bucky in Lincoln, NE, once again.
With both Frank Kaminsky and Sam Dekker returning, as well as virtually every player from last year’s Final Four team, the Badgers are by far the odds on favorite to win the Big Ten. I also believe that Dekker will have a monster season this year and will emerge as one of the best players in the country. Last season we thought Bo Ryan had his best team yet. This year’s squad will surpass the talent from a year ago.
The first few Big Ten games for Wisconsin do not seem so bad. But once the Badgers get into the middle of January and into the meat of the Big Ten schedule, we will really find out what this team is made of.
