Head coach Gary Andersen hasn’t made the official announcement, yet, but JSonline says three sources have confirmed that McEvoy, a redshirt junior who transferred to UW last season from Arizona Western College, will get the nod over 2013 starter, Joel Stave.
Andersen’s latest statement didn’t lean one way or the other, and in his weekly press conference he took the political approach.
“Both those kids are still right there,” Andersen told reporters on Monday, after the team’s second scrimmage of preseason camp. “Like I said a long time ago, we may know who the starter is, but we’re not going to say who the starter is until we jog out on the field for the LSU game.”
Although the thought was we wouldn’t know exactly who the starter would be for the Badgers when they took the field against the Tigers in eight days, it looks as though the cat is out of the bag. Wisconsin faces LSU on August 30th at NRG Stadium in Houston, TX, all part of the AdvoCare Texas Kickoff.
Stave had 21 consecutive starts at the quarterback position at Wisconsin, however, he fell critic to both toughness and consistency throwing the football in 2013.
