We have all been waiting in anticipation to officially hear from Wisconsin Badgers head coach Gary Andersen who will be under center against LSU on Saturday. Andersen has stated he won’t tell publicly and we are all going to have to wait until Saturday night. Reports came out last Friday that it indeed was Tanner McEvoy who would be the Badgers starting quarterback. The depth chart provided no answers as it listed Joel Stave OR Tanner McEvoy as first string. But running back Melvin Gordon might have shed some light into the Badgers quarterback situation on accident.
While speaking to the media, Gordon might have accidentally proclaimed McEvoy as the starter.
Perhaps accidentally but Melvin Gordon just confirmed that Tanner McEvoy will start vs LSU.

Gordon: “People definitely overlook (Stave). And even though Tanner was named the starter, I think Joel will continue to work …” — Zach Heilprin (@ZachHeilprin) August 25, 2014
This is going to end up being a fun week. Speculation has been running rampant ever since spring practices when Stave was held out due to injury and McEvoy was able to make an early impression on the coaching staff. Now some may think that McEvoy being named the starter was “leaked” on purpose and Gordon saying what he did was not accidental to try to throw off Les Miles and the Tigers. You’re going to have to wake up real early in the morning to try to fool the “Mad Hatter.”
Others have speculated that maybe Wisconsin will roll with a two quarterback system. To that I say, I really hope that doesn’t happen. Some teams have found success going that route. Most have not. Honestly I don’t think that would work for the Badgers.
More than likely, to be officially told who will start for the Badgers under center, we will have to wait until Saturday night and see what quarterback jogs onto the field. Either way it shakes out, we still have Melvin Gordon, right?
