With the release of the Wisconsin Badgers depth chart heading into their game against the LSU Tiger on Saturday, the thought was we would finally get an official word as to who in fact is the actual starting quarterback. Nope. That unfortunately didn’t happen.

As you can see, head coach Gary Andersen isn’t ready to show his hand regarding the quarterback position. Not officially anyways. With reports surfacing last Friday that it would be Tanner McEvoy, not Joel Stave, under center for Saturday’s tilt against the Tigers I thought for sure Andersen would officially name him the starter. But that is not the case and it looks like we will have to wait to see who jogs onto the field of NRG Stadium Saturday night after all.
Also, two true-freshmen have landed on the Badgers depth chart at the wide receiver position. Filling the shoes of Jared Abbrederis will be no easy task, but freshmen George Rushing and Natrell Jamerson have performed well in the offseason to help boost the receiver position.

Really no surprises on the defensive side of the ball other than it will be very youthful. Redshirt freshman Chikwe Obasih is one I will be keeping an eye on all year as I think he will have a big year. I also have a lot of confidence in the four starting linebackers and their reserves. Vince Biegel I feel will have a monster year as will Derek Landisch. They’re no Chris Borland, but I expect one of those two players to lead the team in tackles this season.
Lubern Figaro, another true freshman (I’m sensing a theme here), will be the Badgers starting strong safety. Coaches have been high on Figaro and has performed well enough to garner a starting position.
|P||Drew Meyer (RS JR)||P.J. Rosowski (FR)|

|KO||Andrew Endicott (SO)||Rafael Gaglianone (FR)|

|H||Drew Meyer (RS JR)||James McGuire (RS SR)|
|PR||Kenzel Doe (SR)||Alex Erickson (RS SO)|
|KR||Kenzel Doe (SR)||Corey Clement (SO)|
Surprise! Your 2014 Wisconsin Badgers field kicker is none other than freshman Rafael Gaglianone. I honestly have no problem with this decision as Gaglianone has been impressive each time taking the field. I look for Gaglianone to be one of the best kickers to ever come through the Wisconsin program.
So really no surprise with this Badgers depth chart. It is by far a youth movement in Madison and will be interesting to see how it all shapes out. At least with this depth chart we have taken one of the final steps to football season officially starting. And as for that theme I was talking about earlier, if you haven’t kept track there are six true freshmen on the roster and 11 total landing on the depth chart.
