Former Wisconsin football star Montee Ball is once again in hot water

It’ been well over a year since Montee Ball last took a carry in an NFL game, but the former Wisconsin football player continues to make headlines.

Unfortunately for the former Badger, they aren’t positive headlines.

After incidents earlier this year resulted in Ball being charged with two separate counts of domestic violence by two different women, the former Wisconsin star is now facing felony bail jumping charges, as reported by Wisconsin TV station WKOW.

According to the report, Ball was arrested Saturday night. Here’s how WKOW reported the incident:

"“According to the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office Notice of Arrest, Montee Ball was taken into custody at 9:25 Saturday night in the City of Whitewater on a felony bail jumping violation.Police were called to 841 Brewhouse where Ball was said to be at the tavern drinking alcohol and had felony bond conditions in Dane County not to consume alcohol or be in a bar/tavern.Ball was located at an address on W. Main Street where he denied drinking, however, had an odor of intoxicants on his breath. Ball refused a breathalyzer as well as any blood draw. A search warrant was served for his blood, which was then drawn.”"

Ball, who played a season and a half for the Denver Broncos and accumulated 731 yards and five touchdowns on 175 career carries after entering the NFL as a second-round draft pick, was cut from the Broncos midway into the 2014 season.

He was signed to the New England Patriots’ practice squad late in the season, but was cut shortly after the news of his domestic violence incidents.

So far, Ball has been nothing short of a disappointment on the field, and has been an even bigger disappointment off of the field in how he has chosen to conduct himself.

After an incident with his girlfriend in February led to the first domestic violence charges for Ball, another woman from a prior relationship came forward in March to file charges from an alleged incident in June 2014.

As pointed out by BSNDenver.com, charges from the two incidents “include strangulation, suffocation, substantial battery with the intent to do bodily harm and disorderly conduct.”

It’s unlikely the former Wisconsin football player will ever find himself back on the field, especially considering the NFL’s increased awareness of domestic violence and their mission to clean it from the league. It’s probably for the best, as the young man clearly  has more important issues to work out at this point in his life than a return to football.
