Why The Chryst To LA Rumors Seem Like Utter Blasphemy

In a report late last night a rumor was floated around that Wisconsin Football Head Coach Paul Chryst was reportedly being considered as the potential new Head Coach for the Los Angeles Rams. Sports Illustrated’s own Peter King floated the name of Chryst out there along with additional college coaches as potential fits for the upcoming NFL Demolition Day know as Black Monday.

Every year around this time rumors of potential the future openings of the NFL come into play as the firing day quickly approaches. Many of these rumors fly without merit, and it causes fan bases from all over to either get their hopes high, or fear losing their star head coach. I’m here to tell you right now, Head Coach Paul Chryst is not going anywhere. I do enjoy the occasional sports bet, and this one seems to be the easiest play out there. The rumors of Chryst to LA simply doesn’t have legs.

More from Badger of Honor

The former Madison Grad has previously called being the Head Coach of Wisconsin Football his dream job, so I find it hard to believe that after just two very successful seasons that a man like Paul Chryst would jump ship for a struggling NFL franchise in a astronomically large media market.

If i’m being honest here, Paul Chryst does not fit the mold of Los Angeles. For the Rams, I would imagine they are looking for a bit bigger and boisterous personality to fit the city, and Paul Chryst is almost exactly that. Hes a soft spoken man of few words, and that fits the Wisconsin Football program perfectly. I do not see that holding up in the dog eat dog world of Los Angeles.

Paul Chryst is building a program the right way, and taking on a massive rebuild in one of the biggest markets in the world just does not seem to fit something Paul Chryst would want to do. So why did this rumor spark up?

While Chryst is an amazing offensive mind, the underlying reason could be that Coach Chryst’s agent is using the float tactic to possible push Athletic Director Barry Alavarez to talk raise or extension. The relationship between Wisconsin Football and Paul Chryst is a perfect one, and Barry has been at this long enough to know that he needs to do all he can too keep the leader of Wisconsin Football. I know Wisconsin Fans have been burned by the Coaching Carousel before, but I think its safe to bet that Coach Paul Chryst will be leading the Wisconsin Badgers for a very long time.
