Wisconsin Badger softball catcher Chloe Miller named an All-American

Wisconsin’s Chloe Miller makes history as the first Badger softball player to earn an All-American honor.   She was named a Third Team All-American.

Around the Big Ten, a pair of Minnesota Golden Gophers made the First Team while two Michigan Wolverines and one Michigan State Spartan were on the Second Team.  Miller was joined on the Third Team by players from Michigan, Illinois, and THE Ohio State.

The 2017-2018 Badger softball team will have a giant hole in the heart of its order in need of replacement.

Miller compiled an impressive final season in Madison leading the Badger offense.

She hit .426 on the season (1st on the team), notched a .545 on-base percentage (1st), and slugged a whopping .794 a full 227 points higher than the second highest mark on the team.  Miller  rapped 66 hits (1st), with 18 doubles (1st), three triples (1st), 11 HRs (1st), recording 123 total bases (1st).  She knocked in 48 RBIs and scored 53 runs (1st).  Miller recorded all those team leading statistics while finishing second on the Badgers in walks (38) and third in total at-bats (155).

More from Badger of Honor

Aside from just the dominant 2017 season, Miller has left her mark all over the Badger record book according to a release from the UW Athletic Department.

"Miller finishes her time as a Badger atop the Wisconsin career records in several categories with 53 multi-RBI games, 181 RBI, 31 home runs, 145 runs. She also ranks second all-time with 215 career hits and 57 career multi-hit games."

Miller ranked 26th nationally in batting average, 22nd in slugging, and 9th in OBP.  She also was 18th in Runs/game, and 37th in total bases.

As Badger of Honor reported, Miller was the 11th overall pick in the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) draft by the Akron Racers.  Miller is the first Badger softball player to be picked in the NPF draft.  The Racers’ 2017 season starts on June 1st with a three-game set against the Chicago Bandits.
