Who are the best former Wisconsin football players in the NFL?

Wisconsin Football has put several stars in the NFL over the years. Wisconsin has become known for having dominating running games, thanks in large part to the offensive linemen, and hard-nosed defenses. The players that helped establish that culture are continuing to do so at the professional level.

First and foremost, we’ll proudly look back at what the Wisconsin football program has produced. The memories that many of these players were part of creating have stuck with fans through the years. We also will get a gentle reminder of just how great the Badger tradition is. Wisconsin football isn’t known for pulling in five-star recruits. Instead, even through coaching changes, Wisconsin is known for developing talent. The recruits that come through Madison evolve into great football players. And it shows on Sundays.

Joe Thomas is retired from the NFL, but was one of the best offensive linemen the NFL has ever seen. Chris Borland was well on his way to an appearance on this list until he decided to step away from the game.

With a new batch of Badgers getting drafted in 2018 we’ll take a look at who the best current Badgers are in the NFL before it gets shaken up. Wisconsin lost some players to the pros from it’s dominating 2017 defense. Nick Nelson, Natrell Jamerson, Leon Jacobs and Jack Cichy were all drafted on defense, and Troy Fumagalli was the only offensive player taken. The five total Badgers selected in 2018 makes them the most players selected from Wisconsin in the draft sicne 2014.
