St. Louis Rams Sign Nick Toon After Injury-Plagued Saints Tenure

Former Wisconsin and New Orleans Saints wide receiver Nick Toon signed with the St. Louis Rams on Tuesday according to FoxSports editor Ross Jones.

Toon was often injured with the Saints and never materialized into one of Drew Brees‘ main targets despite his 6-foot-4 frame. After his injury-reserved first season, Toon amassed 283 yards on 23 receptions, with one touchdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 13 of the 2014 season.

Nick Toon worked out for the Rams last week and was the standout by name recognition alone. Others included former Northwestern quarterback Kain Colter and another son of a former NFLer, DaVaris Daniels. Toon will join fellow Rams receivers Tavon Austin, Chris Givens, Kenny Britt and Stedman Bailey.

The Rams signing may also ensure that some pregame reunions are in order for Nick Toon and former quarterbacks Scott Tolzien (Oct. 11 against the Packers) and the Week 16 matchup in Seattle with Russell Wilson.
