College basketball had a pretty underwhelming early-season matchup in Buffalo vs. Vermont, unless you are a Wisconsin fan who loves checking up on former players. Then you see these two schools going head to head, and you know that it's going to be Daniel Freitag's team vs. Gus Yalden's team. In the battle between these two former Badgers, it was Freitag's team to come out on top, and he is the primary reason the Buffalo Bulls are 5-0 to start the season.

Freitag has been electric this season for the Bulls. This game may have been his best of the season as he scored 33 points, had 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. He was a bit of a volume shooter in the game with 29 total shots put up, but the offense has learned to run through the former Badger guard.

Gus Yalden of Vermont also had a pretty good game with 17 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 block. He did his best to pull off the win over Buffalo, but ultimately his Catamounts fell 94-90.

Yet, the score isn't the important part for Wisconsin fans; it's the fact that two former Badgers seem to have found a new start and a new home in these two teams. Both are starting to really shine and showcase what brought them to Wisconsin in the first place.

Neither were quite ready nor the right fit for the Badgers, but now both are showing off in their new homes. Freitag especially has been a marvel for Buffalo. He's now averaging 21 points this season and is their leading scorer as the offense runs through his hands. As a former 4-star recruit, he's finally found his footing.
