Every single season, freshmen rise in the depth chart to become starters and other stars. Recently, the writers over at The Big Ten Huddle put out a list of the Top 25 True Freshmen to watch in the Big Ten, and Wisconsin has two players featured: Nicolas Clayton and Mason Posa.

Clayton comes in ranked No. 11 on the list while Posa checks in at 17. These are both solid true freshmen players who very well could make an impact for the Badgers. Yet, there might be two others that should be mentioned that could end up being asked to step up in a major way this season.

Clayton was one of the prized recruits of the 2025 recruiting class. He already has the size, strength, and athleticism to make an impact at the college level. He's 6'5" and 235 pounds, and he can pin his ears back and go after quarterbacks. He very easily could see a role in the rotation.

Posa has already made a highlight play in fall camp, intercepting a pass over the middle. Jumping up and tipping the ball to himself. It shows that he's already got the instincts to be an effective linebacker. It's hard to see him get a ton of snaps out of the gate with other veterans in the way. However, he will be out there.

There are two others that should be mentioned: WR Eugene Hilton Jr. and CB Cairo Skanes. Hilton has exploded onto the scene at fall camp. He has put together one of the most impressive freshman receiver camps in recent memory. It will be hard for the coaching staff to keep him off the field.

Skanes is already getting some first-team reps at fall camp. With the very likely potential that Nyzier Fourqurean is ruled no longer eligible, the hunt to find depth at corner is ongoing. While it looks like Omillio Agard may end up earning most of the reps, Skanes getting some first-team reps makes you think he's a true freshman to watch for Wisconsin this season.
