Seattle Seahawks: Round 1, pick 31

Matt Miller had Gordon at this spot in his post-Super Bowl Mock Draft, but has Gordon going earlier in his newest mock. In his Mock Draft 3.0 (Subscription required), Todd McShay projects the Seahawks to draft Todd Gurley.

Clearly, the mockers are expecting Marshawn Lynch‘s tenure to be over soon in Seattle.

If Marshawn Lynch is done in Seattle, could Melvin Gordon be the next back for the Seahawks? Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

Much has been made of the physical similarities between Lynch and Gordon, although I think the two have very different running styles – Lynch would rather run you over while Gordon wants to beat you to the spot and evade defenders.

Having said that, Gordon isn’t afraid to put his shoulder down and run between the tackles, and would be a great fit in Seattle.

He would have competition (even assuming Lynch was no longer in the picture) as the Seahawks are high on their young running backs Robert Turbin and Christine Michael, but Gordon would likely project ahead of the two.

And pairing up Gordon with Russell Wilson would be a match made in Badger heaven, as we are plenty familiar with the dominance Montee Ball and Russell Wilson displayed in Madison.

This pick hinges on Lynch’s tenure in Seattle, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Gordon go off the board here.
