(4) North Carolina Tar Heels
Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports
By North Carolina standards, they had a down year this year but that’s no reason to sleep on the Tar Heels. Don’t let their 11 losses fool you as almost every single one of those came against a team ranked inside the top 15.
They just beat a very good Virginia team in the ACC tournament and beat Louisville twice and also have wins against Ohio State, NC State and UCLA.
The Tar Heels are talented, led by Marcus Paige who leads the team in scoring with 13.9 points per game. But Brice Johnson (13.2, 7.7) and Kennedy Meeks (11.7, 7.5) are two really good weapons that could score double-doubles on any given night. You also have to factor in J.P. Tokoto, Justin Jackson and Isaiah Hicks as players that you have to account for as well.
One thing I have learned is never count out a Roy Williams-led team. The record might not reflect it, but this is a talented team. If you want to advance against the Tar Heels, you will have to play your best basketball.
