The Wisconsin Badgers have earned the 1 seed in the West Region of the NCAA Tournament. Here’s a look at the West bracket and a prediction of how the Badgers will fare in the tournament.
Selection Sunday was a big day for Wisconsin.
Not only did the Badgers earn an impressive, come-from-behind Big Ten Championship game victory over Michigan State, but in the process, solidified a 1 seed in the West Region for the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
The Badgers Big Ten Tournament run — coupled with timely Duke and Virginia losses, helped propel Wisconsin to its first one seed in school history.
Wisconsin Badgers
Wisconsin joins Kentucky, Duke and Villanova as one seeds, and is looking to make it back to the Final Four for the second straight year after running through the West a season ago, led by West Region Most Outstanding Player Frank Kaminsky, who averaged 18.5 points per game as the Badgers were one of four teams remaining in the field.
The Badgers ended up the top seed out West, and will face an oddly familiar path back to the Final Four. Wisconsin could play Oregon in the round of 32 — the same team they faced in the round of 32 last year – and could potentially face Arizona or Baylor in the Elite Eight. Wisconsin defeated Baylor in the Sweet Sixteen a year ago and knocked off the top-seed Arizona for a trip to the Final Four.
Wow.
There is a lot of madness to sort out right now, and there are plenty of tough matchups for the Badgers. I’ll try to help you figure out how tough Wisconsin’s path to the title will be.
Here’s a full scouting report for all the teams in the region, along with round by round predictions.
