Wisconsin high school basketball star Diamond Stone is leaning toward committing to the Wisconsin Badgers. That’s according to Mark Miller, editor of the Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook and WisSports.net basketball writer/scout, who tweeted the following late Tuesday morning.
The high school senior has already been named a McDonalds All-American and a second-team Naismith All-American.
Stone led his high school team – Dominican High School in Whitefish Bay – to a state title last weekend in Wisconsin’s Division 4 state championship tournament. It was the fourth straight state title for Dominican, largely thanks to the powerhouse Stone.
The 6-foot-10, 280-pound high school senior is the top-ranked prep center prospect in the country, according to 247 Sports, and is ranked as the top high school player in the state of Wisconsin and the fifth-best prospect in the country.
Stone would be an impressive addition to an already exciting 2015-16 recruiting class.
The Badgers have already received signed letters of intent from 4-star DePere shooting guard Brevin Pritzl, 4-star Minnesota power forward Alex Illikainen, and 3-star Maryland power forward Charlie Thomas, as well as a verbal commit from 3-star Ohio small forward Kahlil Iverson.
Illikainen is 247 Sports’ top-ranked player out of Minnesota, while Pritzl is 247’s third-ranked prospect out of Wisconsin. Adding the state’s top player and a top-five national prospect would put Wisconsin’s recruiting class up there with the best of them heading into the 2015-16 season.
