Wisconsin rallies past North Carolina

The Wisconsin Badgers found themselves in their toughest test to date in the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament. North Carolina came out and gave the Badgers everything they had.

A Sam Dekker tip-in before the first half buzzer brought Wisconsin within two points – 33-31 – but the Badgers were in for a fight throughout the second half.

Trailing 60-59 late, Zak Showalter drove the lane for a layup, then grabbed a steal and went the distance for another two to put Wisconsin up 63-60. Sam Dekker hit a layup to create some separation, but North Carolina fought back, closing the gap to 65-64.

That’s when Captain America Josh Gasser calmly drained a three pointer, and the Badgers coasted on free throws to a 70-72 win and a spot in the Elite Eight for the second straight year.
