Leuer will officially be sticking with his new team, as his $1 million salary turned guaranteed on Tuesday.
Wisconsin Badgers
After drafting Kentucky guard Devin Booker in the first round (pick 13), the Suns selected their fifth — yes fifth — Kentucky guard, Andrew Harrison, in the second round (joining Eric Bledsoe, Brandon Knight and Archie Goodwin), but dealt him to the Grizzlies for the former Wisconsin player.
Leuer has bounced around the NBA, starting his career as the 40th overall selection in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks. He was traded to the Houston Rockets in 2012, waived, and was claimed by the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he appeared in nine games over the 1012-13 season.
In 2013 he was traded to the Grizzlies, and later in the year he signed a three-year, $3 million dollar deal. He has appeared in 186 total NBA games (18 starts) and in his career averages 4.6 points and 2.8 rebounds while playing 11.9 minutes per game.
Ironically, one of the best games of his career came against his new team, when he scored 23 points and added 9 rebounds and 3 blocks in a Dec. 3, 2013 110-91 win over Phoenix.
Leuer will add depth to Phoenix’s bench as a stretch-4.
