Peter Konz started at center last year, until a knee injury ended his season. Now, he needs to show the coaches he is healthy enough to keep his starting job. If he is still hindered by the lingering effects of his injury, his roster spot may be in danger.
Meanwhile, Dezmen Southward, the 2013 shocking second round pick, was just moved from safety to cornerback. Which is a great idea, because as we know, Southward excels in coverage. How do I turn on the sarcasm font? Now, the pressure is on Southward to prove that he can handle the position switch. He is also coming off of knee surgery, so we will see what that does to his speed.
Journeyman safety O’Brien Schofield and un-drafted rookie nose tackle Warren Herring have an uphill battle to make the roster. Schofield is going to need to be a special teams ace in order to make the roster. Herring is going to need to really make splashes with his run defense.
