The Badgers certainly have had their fair share of big wins on night games, although lately those night games have been few and far between. Several night games stand out as big performances from Wisconsin.
There was the night game in 2002 against Fresno State when Wisconsin needed a late Mike Allen field goal to seal the victory.
Or in 2003, when a Lee Evans 73-yard touchdown catch from backup quarterback Matt Schabert knocked off the defending national champion #3 Ohio State Buckeyes.
And of course there’s the 1998 classic, when Purdue came to town and Drew Brees tossed the ball a whopping 83 times, completing 55 passes for 494 total yards. The Badgers grabbed four interceptions, including a Jamar Fletcher INT returned 52 yards for a score as the Badgers won the Homecoming game 31-24.
Perhaps more important, that night a tradition was born as the Badgers fans couldn’t help but get off of their feet when House of Pain’s “Jump Around” blared over the PA system.
When the Rainbow Warriors come to town Saturday night, they’ll get the best Madison has to offer from both its football team and its fans.
The atmosphere at Camp Randall, coupled with a Badgers team hungry for the Big Ten schedule, will make Saturday’s game one to remember.
Before Saturday, however, let’s take a look back at the past decade of night games at Camp Randall Stadium and highlight the top five Wisconsin Badgers night games over that time.
