#5: WISCONSIN VS. UNLV, SEPTEMBER 1, 2011

The Wisconsin Badgers welcomed the UNLV Rebels for the 2011 season-opener under the lights at Camp Randall Stadium, and put on a show for the Wisconsin faithful.

The Badgers totaled 499 yards in Russell Wilson‘s debut as the Badgers quarterback, and racked up a 20-0 first quarter lead on the way to a 51-17 rout of the visitors from UNLV.

Wilson impressed in his first game with the “W” on his helmet, completing 10 of 13 pass attempts for 255 yards and two touchdowns. He added two carries for 62 yards, including a 46-yard touchdown run. Montee Ball took 10 carries for 63 yards and three touchdowns, and James White added 11 carries for 64 yards and a score.

Ball also caught a 63-yard touchdown pass and Wilson found tight end Jacob Pederson for a score, as well.

The Badgers defense held the Rebels to just 292 yards on the way to the team’s first victory of the 2011 season, a year that saw one more memorable night game in Camp Randall Stadium.

But we’ll get to that one later…
