Who will win the Big Ten East?

Erik Buchinger: No surprise here, but Ohio State will win the Big Ten East. As many expected prior to the season, the East will come down to the Nov. 21 matchup against Michigan State in Columbus. The Buckeyes will play a highly motivated Michigan team the week after the Spartans come to town, so Ohio State has to avoid the hangover loss following a big win. Urban Meyer has likely surpassed Nick Saban as the best coach in college football, and he will have his Buckeyes ready each week en route to an undefeated regular season.

  • Taylor Johnson: The East comes down to two teams, Michigan State and Ohio State. If I had to pick one right this minute it would be the Buckeyes. But I think it comes down to their November 21st showdown at The Shoe. Whoever wins that game I think will be the East representative at the Big Ten championship game.

Jim Oxley: I want to pick Michigan State here. I think the Spartans have the firepower to compete with Ohio State and can absolutely get a victory against the top team in the country. Unfortunately for the Spartans, they have to travel to Ohio State and play on the road in a very hostile environment. Plus by the time week 11 rolls around, the Buckeyes will likely figure out whatever struggles they’re going through right now. I’ll take the Buckeyes to make it back into the Big Ten Championship.

Rayan Vatti: At the beginning of the season, I would have said Ohio State. After Week 2, I would have said Michigan State. But now, after the way Oregon lost at home to Utah, Michigan State’s resume is pretty weak, with numerous close wins versus mediocre teams. Ohio State hasn’t played much better, and I’m not willing to add Michigan to the discussion yet. So it’s all going to come down to Michigan State at Ohio State. And while I think they are evenly matched teams, the home field advantage will be enough for Ohio State.
