How will the Badgers finish in Big Ten play?

RV: Wisconsin will finish 2nd in the Big 10. No, I’m not crazy. I know what the Badgers lost, and I understand how deep and talented the Big 10 is. It won’t be easy, but they have a dynamic duo in Koenig and Hayes, a deep and talented bench, a host of breakout options, and the sorcerer Bo Ryan running the show. The Badgers will also be benefited by the new freedom of motion calls, and the home-court advantage of the Kohl Center. For a more in depth explanation, check out my article on “Why Wisconsin will be better than expected.”

  • JR: Despite losing Frank and Dekker, I think Wisconsin is still a top-three Big Ten team.

EB: I see Wisconsin finishing third in the Big Ten conference behind Michigan State and Maryland. Even with the loss of five of their top seven scorers, the Badgers are going to be better than expected. Hayes and Koenig are among the best players in the conference, and Wisconsin has a solid supporting cast that will make the Badgers a tough team to beat. As everyone has been told numerous times, Wisconsin has never finished worse than fourth in the conference since Bo Ryan took over. This season will be no different in what could be his final year.

TJ: Wisconsin has never finished outside of the top four while under Bo Ryan. I’m saying they finish fourth this year, but I don’t say it with much confidence. They’re a young team and lost a lot of fire power from a year ago. This could be the year you see Wisconsin outside of that top four for the first time under Ryan.

JO: I won’t keep repeating what everyone has said about the Badgers under Bo Ryan. This team really intrigues me, and I too think they will be better than everyone expects. I don’t think the Badgers will be good enough early in the season to compete for the top two spots, but once the young team figures each other out in Big Ten play, the Badgers will finish strong and fight for to take third in the conference.
