Who will win the Big Ten Conference?

RV: I’m not completely sold on Maryland. They have the pieces, but we have no idea what their chemistry is going to look like. Losing their glue guy Dez Wells also hurts. But they have too much talent not to put them at number 1. Melo Trimble is one of those guards that can carry a team all by himself, and with Jake Layman and Diamond Stone (sigh), he won’t even need too. I’m hesitant to put them at the top, but with all the talent they have, I’d be stupid not too.

More from Wisconsin Basketball

JR: I think Michigan State wins the conference, but the Badgers get the tournament win.

EB: Maryland has too much talent not to be the favorite this season. The roster is loaded with three McDonald’s All-Americans, including Melo Trimble, who was named the Big Ten Preseason Player of the Year. The Terrapins also return Jake Layman and added former Duke Blue Devil Rasheed Sulaimon and Robert Carter from Georgia Tech. Maryland also brought in Wisconsin high school’s co-Mr. Basketball Diamond Stone. This team is too good not to win the Big Ten.

TJ: Maryland will be one of the best teams in the country and will end up winning the Big Ten conference. They have arguably the conference’s best freshman in Diamond Stone and best player in Melo Trimble. Not too many teams will be able to slow down the Terrapins this year.

JO: It’s not going to be easy to take down Maryland this season. The Terrapins feature some of the best talent in the conference, and unless something goes dramatically wrong, should be the class of the Big Ten conference this year.
