RV: Bronson Koenig and Nigel Hayes will be in the mix. Indiana’s Yogi Ferrell, Michigan State’s Denzel Valentine, and Michigan’s Caris LeVert are also terrific players. But Maryland’s Melo Trimble is just something special. He has the explosiveness to get to the rim at will, can create his own shot from anywhere on the court, and is good at drawing fouls. He is one of those guards that can just take over games. Especially if Maryland plays up to its pre-season billing, this is Trimble’s award.

JR: Michigan’s Caris LeVert is the player of the year.

EB: I think Trimble takes home the Big Ten Player of the Year award in the 2015-16 season. He is the best player on the best team, and he will be rewarded for that. It will be a big year for the Terrapins, and Trimble will be running the show.

TJ: Melo Trimble will win the league’s player of the year. One of the best player’s in the country, it’s going to be hard to slow him down. I don’t forsee any sophomore slump with Trimble and he will play a big part in Maryland’s success.

JO: I really want to pick Nigel Hayes for this one. Badly. I think he gets a ton of run as the Badgers no. 1 option, and is in for a special season. Still, I’ll go a different route and say Michigan State’s Denzel Valentine takes home the award. It’s out of spite that I pick him, as he’s my least favorite player for the Badgers to match up against. He’s a tough matchup on the perimeter, and can make plays in the paint.
