Wisconsin football fans have suffered through some grueling losses over the past five seasons, and Saturday’s Senior Day loss to the Northwestern Wildcats is the most recent example.
Overall, the Wisconsin Badgers have had a fairly successful football team in the last five years. The Badgers have accumulated a 47-19 record since 2011 with two Big Ten Championships and a pair of Rose Bowl appearances during that span – pretty impressive numbers for the program considering Wisconsin has gone through three head coaches during that time as well.
With several big wins, including victories over Michigan State and Nebraska in conference title games in 2011 and 2012, respectively, and nine victories against top 25 teams, it has been a good stretch for the Wisconsin football program. However, recent losses have been tough to watch, and it can get excruciating for the Badgers and their fans to watch.

In many households in the state of Wisconsin or at the game at Camp Randall Stadium, watching a Badgers loss is usually followed with a, “What the hell did I just watch?” This happens to the Badgers more than most college football teams across the country.
Wisconsin just finds weird ways to lose, and it has been frustrating, as the Badgers have had chances to get over that hump and become a mainstay among the top teams in college football.
We have seen some of the nation’s best players like J.J. Watt, Russell Wilson, Montee Ball and Melvin Gordon roll through Madison, and each one of them has suffered heartbreaking losses in a Wisconsin uniform.
In order from most recent, here is a list of the five most devastating losses for Wisconsin in the past five seasons. The Badgers don’t always lose games, but when they do, they always make their fans want to cry.
