  • One of the better running quarterbacks in school history, Mike Samuel ran for 348 yards and 23 touchdowns in his career, including 18 touchdown runs in his final two seasons. Combined with his passing touchdowns, Samuel was responsible for 57 touchdowns in his career.

    When he needed to throw, that wasn’t a problem, either. Samuel is seventh all-time at UW with nearly 5,000 passing yards, and is ninth all time at UW with a 54.9 career completion percentage.

    The defining moment of his collegiate career was the 1996 Copper Bowl, when Samuel and Ron Dayne led the Badgers to a 38-10 blowout victory over the Utah Utes. Samuel opened the game with a 38-yard touchdown scamper. and Dayne took it from there, rushing for more than 200 yards in the game.

    Samuel is fourth all time at Wisconsin with 27 career wins as a Badger, one of six Wisconsin quarterbacks to break the 20-win barrier. He was a three-year starter for Wisconsin.
