#4 Wisconsin vs. #3 TCU: January 1, 2011

Rose Bowl: Wisconsin 19, TCU 21

The Badgers, playing in their first Rose Bowl since Ron Dayne led the Badgers to a victory in 2000, and their seventh Rose Bowl in school history, couldn’t complete a late-game comeback and fell to the TCU Horned Frogs 21-19.

The Badgers went up 3-0 on a Phillip Welch field goal, but Andy Dalton brought the Horned Frogs down the field and connected with Bart Johnson for a 23-yard touchdown.

John Clay answered with a 1-yard touchdown run to put the Badgers up 10-7, but Dalton ran one in from four yards out late in the first quarter to make it a 14-10 TCU lead.

A Welch field goal in the second closed the gap to 14-13, but TCU’s Luke Shivers scored from a yard out to put TCU up 21-13.

That score held until Montee Ball scored with two minutes to play, cutting the lead to 21-19. Scott Tolzien’s two-point conversion attempt was batted down at the line of scrimmage, and the Horned Frogs hung on for the victory.
