The Badgers capped the 1996 season with a dominating win over the Utah Utes, led by a 30-carry, 246 yard effort from Ron Dayne, who scored three touchdowns in the win.

Mike Samuel put the Badgers on the board in the first quarter on a 38-yard touchdown run, and after a Utah field goal, Dayne scored the first of his touchdowns, this one from 40 yards out.

Cyrill Weems made it a 21-3 Wisconsin lead on a 82 yard interception returned for a touchdown, and a John Hall field goal put Wisconsin ahead 24-3. Dayne added a three-yard touchdown run just before the half to make it a 31-3 halftime lead.

Utah scored to open the third quarter, but Dayne added one more score, a one-yard run, for the final 38-10 score.
