Wisconsin 37, Northwestern 6

The Badgers didn’t back down when the #1 team in the country came to Camp Randall Stadium in late November 1964.

Led by quarterback Ron Vander Kalen, running back Louis Holland, and legendary Badgers wideout Pat Richter, Wisconsin steamrolled Northwestern 37-6 on the way to winning the Big Ten Championship and earning a spot in the Rose Bowl.

Vander Kelen threw for 181 and three touchdowns, finding Richter five times for 77 yards. Holland ran for two touchdowns and caught another as the Badgers knocked off the Wildcats for a big victory.

The defense shut down the Big ten’s leading passer, Tom Myers, and his favorite target, Paul Flatley, who caught just two passes for 17 yards in the game.
