#7 Wisconsin vs. #8 Nebraska: October 1, 2011

Wisconsin 48, Nebraska 17

The Wisconsin Badgers welcomed the Nebraska Cornhuskers to the Big Ten Conference in epic fashion, sending Nebraska home with a 48-17 loss in Nebraska’s first conference game after joining the Big Ten from the Big 12 conference.

Nebraska brought what seemed like the entirety of the city of Lincoln to Madison for the game, but the fans left disappointed after Russell Wilson and Montee Ball manufactured an incredible offensive performance.

After Taylor Martinez put the Huskers on the board, Ball answered with a TD of his own. Nebraska’s Rex Burkhead scored to open the second quarter, giving Nebraska a 14-7 lead, but it was all Wisconsin from there.

The Badgers scored the next 34 straight points to blow open the lead, getting touchdowns from Ball, Jared Abbrederis, Nick Toon and Wilson along the way.

Nebraska added a fourth quarter field goal, and Ball capped the game with another touchdown to give the Badgers a 48-17 win.

Ball finished with 30 carries for 151 yards and four touchdowns, Wilson threw for 255 yards and a pair of scores, and Abbrederis and Toon totaled 96 and 95 reception yards, respectively.
