Wisconsin vs. #14 Michigan: September 24, 2005

Wisconsin 23, Michigan 20

The Badgers opened up the 2005 Big Ten conference season with a huge win over a ranked opponent as the Michigan Wolverines came to town in late September 2005.

Michigan headed into the game the No. 14 team in the nation, and were the favorites on the road at night at Camp Randall. The Badgers, however, came to play, and fought back from a 13-3 halftime deficit to trail 20-16 with under 30 seconds to play.

Facing third and goal from the four-yard line, the Badgers lined up with Brian Calhoun in the backfield. Everyone expected him to get the ball, hell he only had 35 carries for 155 yards and a touchdown on the ground and seven catches for 59 more yards in the game.

Instead, the Badgers called for a QB draw, and John Stocco kept the ball for the score.

The win helped the Badgers to a strong season in Barry Alvarez’s final year at the helm of the team.
